Fifty-three per cent of Indian students want internships to stretch for 4-6 months. The idea is also advocated by 40 per cent of colleges, and 57 per cent of corporate houses, claims a report by HirePro titled, The New Reality in College Hiring’. Students see internships as an opportunity to learn the real-world nuances of what they study in classrooms while being mentored by an expert.
However, the report also claimed that 37 per cent of colleges endorse 10-12 months long internships for students to be industry-ready and shorter internships, lasting 2 to 3 months, are popular among 40 per cent of students.
